Amherst College Composers' Society

Although composition is a major way to be involved in music, there has not been any student community for composers other than courses offered by the music department. Having a student club is crucial for the learning and growth as a composer, by giving a chance for members to interact with their fellow musicians. The composition club intends to create a space for composers, no matter what their experience or genres are. We will have (bi)weekly meetings, opportunities to talk with professors/guest composers, and performances. In the long-run, we also hope to create connections outside of Amherst, providing more variety of experience to the members. This club will not only motivate each other, but also we will learn from each other through the experience.
