In their own words
The Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP) at Amherst aims to engage, expose, and educate dedicated students and all others in the Amherst community to growing healthcare crises, with particular attention to chronic kidney disease. By offering several speaker series and hands-on programs each semester, we will expose and educate students to the scientific and medical profession while also facilitating mentor-menthe relationships and career development. Through the community outreach branch, Community Kidney Disease Detection (CKDD), students will actively participate in the number of volunteer opportunities available and additionally engage with the community by running screenings alongside licensed physicians in medically underserved areas upon request by community leaders. KDSAP intends to increase the awareness of diseases such as chronic kidney disease and lower their prevalence throughout the nation one community at a time.
